Head movement noises from new drive

I got a new 24TB drive (external, usb) for my offsite backup, created a new pool, replicated some datasets and ran a scrub. Scrub came back clean, but I could really hear the head moving about during any kind of read/write. No noise when there were no reads/writes.

Is this normal? Are the newer/larger drives just louder? I really don’t have a point of comparison, the largest drives I’ve had so far are 14TB, and they haven’t been this loud, at least not for head movement.

I know sometimes they use enterprise hdds that failed the QA in external hdds, so would not be surprised if this is just a drive with a troublesome head, but without a point of comparison it’s hard for me to know if I should be worried about this or not.

It’s a USB drive, so, yeah. God only knows. I wouldn’t rely on it more than necessary.
