OpenZFS 2.2.0 rc1 has been released!

Are any of you using this?

I’ve switched to using this on my ubuntu system since this release supports OverlayFS, which means I can use docker with overlay support (without a separate dedicated xfs or ext4 fs with overlay). This is also useful because the special zfs storage method in docker is horribly broken.

If any of you are interested, I have setup a PPA with the 2.2.0-rc1 release, modified with debian patches, for use on my own ubuntu/23.04 lunar system, and I’ve labeled it as experimental on purpose:

(Caveat emptor… it’s been working fine for me with my zfs root based install.)

Thanks very much for the PPA!

Thank you for setting up a new PPA. Does anyone know what’s going on with jonathonf? I hope he’s OK…

Jonathon was responsive for many years when I asked him questions about his PPA (and regarding updates to it.)

The packaging of my PPA is closely inspired by his, but it follows the default Debian ZFS packaging more strictly.
